Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, mix soups and milk until smooth. This will create the creamy base for the bake.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then top with half the onion slices, half the beef, and a drizzle of the creamy soup mixture.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, beef, and soup mix.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 50–60 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
  7. Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

This Amish-style casserole recipe combines simple ingredients with old-fashioned flavor. It’s the kind of comfort food dinner your family will ask for again and again!
