Ingredients
For the bread batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the cinnamon swirl:
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp melted butter
For the glaze (optional):
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Make the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk milk, oil, egg, and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined (don’t overmix).
- Prepare cinnamon swirl: In a small bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly.
- Layer the bread: Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over it. Add the remaining batter, then top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture. Use a knife to gently swirl through the batter for a marbled effect.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool & glaze: Let bread cool for 10–15 minutes before removing from pan. If desired, drizzle with glaze before serving.
