A true Southern comfort classic — tender, fluffy rolls baked in a sweet, buttery cream sauce. They taste like a cross between bread pudding and cinnamon rolls, and they’ll melt in your mouth every single bite!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 6 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 stick (½ cup) butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups whole milk (for sauce)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ¾ cup milk to form a dough.
- Roll dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sugar + vanilla. Roll up and cut into 8–10 pieces.
- Place rolls in dish. Heat 2 cups milk with remaining butter and sugar until warm (don’t boil). Pour over rolls.
- Bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
- Serve warm with the creamy sauce spooned over the top.
