Ingredients
- 1 pound premium ground sausage (mild, medium, or hot)
- 2 (8 oz) tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- Optional: ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional: ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
- Dipping sauces (marinara, ranch, etc.)
Instructions
- Prep Oven & Sausage:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Brown the ground sausage in a skillet for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked, then drain on paper towels and let cool. - Make Filling & Arrange Dough:
Combine the cooled sausage with Monterey Jack and sharp cheddar cheeses. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning if desired. Place an inverted 5-6 inch bowl in the center of the baking sheet as a guide. Arrange crescent roll triangles in a circle around the bowl, overlapping the wide ends. - Assemble & Bake:
Remove the bowl. Spread the sausage and cheese mixture along the wide ends of the dough. Fold the triangle points over the filling and tuck under the inner edge to secure. Whisk egg and water, then brush over the dough. Bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown, rotating halfway through. - Cool & Serve:
Let the ring cool 5-7 minutes before transferring to a platter. Garnish with parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
Tip: For a Mexican twist, use chorizo and pepper jack cheese. For an Italian flavor, try Italian sausage and mozzarella.
