- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
- Optional garnish: shredded cheese or fresh parsley
Instructions:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add diced onion and garlic, cooking until fragrant and softened (about 3 minutes).
- Stir in chopped bell peppers and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil.
